Psalm 46 Friday Evening 1
God is our shelter and stronghold; * a deliverer from sieges have we found the Great One.
Supreme Being, * we will not be afraid * of the jaws of the underworld,
or the toppling of mountains * into the heart of the sea,
even if its waters rage and foam, * and the mountains tumble into its midst, * and the sea currents mount in a swell.
God brings happiness to his city; * the Most High sanctifies his dwelling.
With God in its midst, * it will not be toppled;
He will help it * at the break of dawn.
Nations tremble; * kingdoms totter;
he gives forth his voice; * the earth melts away.
Yahweh of Armies is our fortress; * our stronghold is the God of Jacob.
Come, observe the works of Yahweh, * who has put fertility in the earth.
He makes wars to cease * to the edge of the earth.
The bow he breaks, and snaps the spear, * the war chariots he burns with lightning.
Be still and know * that I am God,
exalted above the nations, * exalted above the earth.
Yahweh of Armies is our fortress; * our stronghold is the God of Jacob.
