When Yahweh restored the fortunes of Zion, * we became like the sands of the sea.

    Then our mouth was filled with laughter, * and our tongue with shouts of joy.

        Then even the nations said: * “Yahweh showed his greatness * by working with them.”

           Yahweh showed his greatness * by working with us; * we became happy.

           Yahweh restored our fortunes * like torrents in the Negeb.

        Those who sowed in tears * have reaped with shouts of joy.

    Though weeping he went forth, * carrying his seed-bag,

he came home with shouts of joy, * carrying his bundles of grain.
